Thumbs up Filter on the throttle body?

So i just finish my build on my 1994 P/U i'm sure i'll have more then one question about the mods i did. the first is the front breather on the valve cover, i put a filter on it and one on the throttle body where the hose connected too. my question is should i keep the filter on the throttle body or plug it? here's a pic. thanks guys

put the hose back on that was there from the factory. that is causing a major vacuum leak. you gain nothing by doing that.

Yea man, take that breather off the throttle body, your letting unmetered air into the engine and that will cause a bad miss and loss of power. Like was said above, put the stock hose back on.

nope- no breathers.

All air that enters the intake whether by PCV or whatever should go through the air-flow meter. Putting that filter on the throttle body, like mentioned, creates an unmetered source of air and that WILL affect the engine operation. Even if you plug that port and leave the filter on the valve cover, that means that the crankcase can suck air in and send it to the intake through the PCV valve, which in turn means another vacuum leak.

Also, try to avoid electrical tape on the intake.

Thanks Abe, Well i fixed that a few day ago. While i was at the parts store some guy told me i should take the filter off the canister on the side of the intake, because it will put moisture in my motor...... But i think that just goes to the exhaust right?

The canister your talking about is called a muffler, it lets air into the exhaust, so having a filter on it won`t hurt anything.

Coolies.
Sorry for quoting you and myyota together but they're related.

myyota is correct, it is a 'muffler' of sorts, more accurately called a resonator or resonating chamber. Air goes through it, through the PAIR reed valve and through a pipe around the back of the engine and into the exhaust manifold. It basically helps keep the noise from the PAIR system from going up the intake and out the main air-filter. You're not going to get any more moisture in the PAIR system through your filter than you otherwise would from letting it get it's air from the air-box... unless you go underwater or splash a lot... which may be a consideration.
