There are several different filter sizes that will thread and seal on any engine.

Case in point There was a oil filter for the Chevy 427engine in a Medium duty truck 16,000 GVW that was huge compared to the regular part # for a 350 which just screwed right on added oil capacity and filtering also.

I go with the largest size that fits on my 22REc engine and buy them by the case.

Could be any number of reasons why that filter was on The fram # I no longer use and have gone to wix was PH8A.

There was a study done I saw somewhere that compared all the oil filters and had all kinds of figures . I don`t remember just where.

I thought I used to see PH-8A's on older 20R motors and wondered how they work on the 22-RE or even if they fit.
Do a lot of you guys use the big PH-8A?

Another oldie but goodie
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/l...-media-102066/

Napa is nice because you can bring up specs on any filter including length, width, gasket diameter both inside and outside, and thread pitch.

My truck and GTI can use the same filter with the VW filter being the larger. Unfortunately my wifes Infiniti has a different thread pitch. It sure would be nice to just buy a case of one part number to use on all three vehicles... oh well.
