I buy Toyota 3.0 filters for my 22re, they are bigger, OEM and come with a free DPG for like $6. I have seen aftermarket filters on Subaru's at the dealership that come in leaking, so I have always just decided not to risk it and just get the filter that the engineer's at Toyota created, they seem to have a good design for most everything else on my truck.

While the idea of a remote oil filter sounds good I would also vote to install it in a vertical position.

Although in my case I can`t do just one.

Fram filters are not good. I have had them not seal well and blow oil all over. Wix or Baldwin are great and Napa filters are made by Wix. Once a year in Wa. Napa has a 1/2 price sale and I buy enough for the year. A bigger or longer filter that does fit is no good unless the check valve inside has the same psi. setting as what the oem filter uses, a higher psi. setting will starve the top end for oil until pressure is equalized. Not good. I would rather have the right oil pressure for my engine, then to screw on a filter just because it fits.
