My wife is planning on buying me this lift kit from Fat Bob's Garage for my 94 runner 4x4 and I wanted to see if anyone has had this kit. Looks like a good price for what it is but I want to know how capable it is for offroad use. Its my dd but I like to go on trails on the weekends and want something reliable and cheap for a little more lift (i know reliabe and cheap is rare but...) Any .02 is appreciated.

It includes 1.5" BJ Spacers, and a 2.5" spacer for the rear springs and i would be getting the diff drop too. maybe a little t-bar crank if needed.

and will i be able to drive this with 0-1" lift shocks? at least for a while?

 

Save a few more bucks and get a suspension lift at least, , more lift, less stress on cv's, and will preform better

 

Never used it but it looks pretty good. I think you'll be fine with the shocks you have for a while but plan on replacing them soon.

It is a supension lift...the diff drop helps the cv's...

I would love to support Wabfab but unfortunatly you do not offer what I am looking for and even your option with rear springs is more expensive with the 5% discount than what I would get at Fat Bob's. They sent me a 15% off coupon for the $200 kit so I have to do what makes sense financially. By all means if you have a deal you can make for me that is $200 shipped for the same stuff I would be more than happy to entertain purchasing through you.

 

IMO a full rear coil is a better option then the coil bucket spacers, but not as bad as a leaf spring guy using a 2.5" block.

 

I don't offer rear spacers on purpose. They are terrible and as bad as using blocks...almost.

Lifting your truck without using the proper longer shocks is like having 4 bald tires and putting new valve stems in them.

Agreed, but im on a tight budget and can replace that part of it later if it doesn't work out well.

 

So you are gonna spend money on something thats ok and wait to see if it works out or replace it later....that is not financially sound....take the time, save up....

 

 

I think it would work fine IMO. It is financially sound because I get it lifted and if I dont like the spacers I can just sell them and get springs. And its not me buying them, its my wife for my birthday and she is not so understanding of the difference between spending 50-80 bucks more for the springs. I also knew a guy that used to come to the shop that I worked at that had a 99 grand cherokee with spacers in the back and drove it a few times and it seemed fine. I would be curious to know what the downfalls are from spacers to springs short and long term?

 

Well, you won't get anything out of them to be honest.
All they do is seperate your spring from your frame, by the length of the spacer.
Buy the BJ spacers, and go find some used coils out of a land cruiser..

 

I like his idea, imo A diff drop for only a couple inches of lift is not worth it, at least a 4 inch kit

 

Sounds like you already have your mind made up on what you (your wife) is getting, so why ask for $0.02 if you don't want to seem to listen? How many lifted Toyotas have you had?
