fan locks up too much?

i have had this feeling for a while now that once my fan clutch locks up it stays locked up. this is really kind of making me nuts cause my truck sounds like an airplane about to take off. i could understand if my temp was hotter, but on the highway last week it seemed like my temp was running a bit cooler even though i was running the a/c. now, before i go off the deep end, anyone ever experience this? its been my experience that it really shouldnt come on while blasting down the highway at 70 mph. (unless you have some other cooling issue, which i dont) my vehicle of choice before this truck(93 p/u 22re) was a 94 implalaSS. no mechanical fan. electric. fans never came on while at highway speeds with a/c on. hint hint....i'm thinking of going electric.

any thoughts?

I've seen a lot of ppl on here go with the electric, but to be honest, MANY have had issues with them. I've NEVER had an issue with my original OEM fan (.94 w/218k miles) and if it ever goes bad, I'm replacing it with OEM.

a clutch fan works alot different than you electric fans do.

If its staying locked up all the time, chances are the fan clutch is going bad. Rather that buy and try to fool with and electric fan, just get a new fan clutch. They are relatively cheap from the dealer (DONT go aftermarket, they suck and NEVER fit right) and will fix your problem. They Strap22 on here (trdparts4u.com) Im sure he can get it to you for a good price!
