Fan Clutch?
Hello new to the forum and a proud owner of a 95 4runner. My fan clutch seems to rotate very fast, sounds like a semi. I can manually move the fan clutch when the engine is off, about 1/8 of a revolution. Even at highway speeds, all i can hear is the loud growl underneath the hood........IS THIS NORMAL WITH THE 3.0 ON A 4RUNNER ?

The 3.0's are nutorious for having the fan pully braket go out. its just a bearing inside that easily gets warn. Im not to sure about the clutch though. Could always swap in an electric fan. Helps cool better and helps the motor warm up faster when cold

mine was going out too, but the growl was not the indication. The thing rattled when it wasn't engaged, like right after start up. This caused me to check the clutch itself & it did rattle when I tried moving in & out with my hands (engine off of course) This told me the bearing inside the clutch was going out. I replaced the clutch & it stopped rattling but that fan is super loud. Then I installed my electric about a year later just cuz I wanted to
