factory EGR block off????
Doing some looking on the 89 (22re) and I noticed a newer looking piece of hose. So I pulled it and found out it's a plug stuck into the end of a vac line. It's the vac hose that goes from the top of the EGR to one of the holes on the plug that comes out of the intake, about 6 inches long. As crazy as this sounds could this thing be the reason why I'm still getting an EGR CEL code?? Or is it a factory block off?
Hell I might just pull it and see what happens.
edit I found a picture. Ignore the blue stuff.
The line I'm talking about (red arrow) is the one that comes out of the EGR near the edge of the deck (disk/whatever you call it). Although on mine it comes up and goes into the little black 3 pronged thing (yellow line) on the intake.

Ok I went back out and looked and where that hose goes in the picture is a little metal nipple with a hole in it. With the engine running it poofs out little bursts of air. So I hooked it back up, pulled the + cable to clear the codes and we'll see if the CEL comes back on this week while I drive to work. I'd love to eliminate that last engine code.
I wonder if it'll help me get better milage? Heck I only got 21.25mpg on the last tank.

I have the EGR Gas Temp Sensor and from what I've seen on some of the diagrams only the Cali trucks came wiith that little gem. It might have come from out west.

edit. I did find a great diagram over at Pirate and the little valve thing in the intake is indeed only supposed to have two hoses connected to it and one nipple plugged. The line from the top of the EGR does indeed go to a little metal nipple that runs down along the valve cover to the front of the motor and connects to the bi-metal vacuum switching valve. It is now hooked up correctly as far as I can tell. Tomorrow when I have more light I'll run all the vac lines to be sure nothing else is incorrect.
