External Fuel Pump?

Fuel pump went on my truck and am looking at what options there are to the in-tank setup. I'm thinking an external setup would be WAY easier to change if it ever failed and I could probably do it on the side of the road if I had to

Was thinking about something like this:

or this:

Anyone have any info or advice on running external pumps?

Since you really need to drop the tank to get the old pump out may as well put the correct pump back in.

I have yet to have a fuel pump failure on any of my stock pumps.

If you do a good install of the external pump remembering electric pumps push fuel better then they pull.

The fact your pulling up and out of the tank is allready going against you the fact the pump is not being cooled in the air.

I would think you will be very good at changing pumps .

Looks to me it is more work then it is worth and the intank pumps work great. Staying above the 1/4th mark, I have never had a pump to go bad. Have replaced some on other trucks where the tank was rusty or owner ran on empty all of the time. I get my fuel pumps off of ebay and have yet to have one to fail. Alot cheaper then dealer or parts store and you can get the exact replica as the factory one.
