Hi my name is Austin, I've been a long time lurker on the site but never really posted. So this is my first official post. I have a 1986 4runner, I bought it with a blown head gasket and managed to get it for $600. So my plan is to do a complete gasket job and put in a new timing chain(234,xxx)
I have heard a lot of good things about engnbldr and thier prices, customer service and quality. So my main question is what other websites/stores would be good to look at for a timing kit and head bolts? I just don't want to put all my eggs in one basket. Thanks in advance.

Ok so call me a troll but I'm confused by your statement and request:
You have heard good reports on Ted's (engnbldr) products, prices, and service. Yet you want to shop around. For what? To beat the guy up on his prices? To undercut his years of expertise? Or maybe to find inferior parts or prices?
DOA and LCE both sell very similar products. And both are more expensive. Both cater to buyers that have their machine shops call and place orders for them. Ted is very knowledgeable and priced for the shade tree garage mechanic with the customer service to help you when you get in a bind or have questions.
Look, LCE has to pay for that flashy catalog and web page some how.
I'll get off my soapbox now. Sorry.

I understand. I don't want to "shop around" I want to have a plan B incase something falls through with Ted. Personally I think it's good to have a plan B so when/if plan A fails you're not screwed. And thank you guys for answering quickly.
