The engine stalls when I put it in reverse
I have a 88 pickup manual trans and it starts fine but every once in a while it will just die when I put it in reverse. (Sometimes it grinds when i put it in reverse) this morning after it died I cant get it to start. HELP! I m a newbie to all this. Lol

a little info would be nice, like what engine do you have? does it only do it when you put it in reverse, or other times? if it won't start at all, it should be somewhat easy to figure out what is going on. first thing i would do is check for spark. if you don't have a spark tester, remove one of your spark plug wires off of the spark plug (whichever is easiest to access) and while holding the end in your hand have an assistant crank the engine. if you feel the spark then you "should" have an adequate working ignition system. if spark is present, spray a little staring fluid in the throttle body and attempt to start the truck. if it starts, its fuel related. do this and report back.

Yeah I ve been reading and yeah it has spark and I tested it (not like how you said hahaha) and it started after I put some starter fluid in it. So I'm guessing it is the fuel pump? From what I've been reading and maybe just coincidentally it died when I put it in reverse but idk I'm still learning and thanks for responding blue. Oh yeah and I have the infamous 22re motor which I think might not have enough power to haul my 33's that I just bought and I sold my stocks already. Shucks!
