Question Engine Service Code

'95 22re check engine light came on. Engine code "EGR temp signal too low" appeared. Have removed & cleaned EGR valve..very little carbon. Suction vacuum on diphragm works. Cleaned egr vac modulator filters. Cleared code and it returned. Also slight ping when accelerating. Driving me bonkers. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

prolly the temp sensor in the EGR valve bad. Ping could be from that, low-octane gas, or an out of time engine.

Talking Bingo

Just finished re-reading the (5) service manuals for the 20th time and Haynes made reference to the temp sensor. Will run resistance check and take it from there. Thanks for your help....Happy Easter
