Engine Rebuild on New Project
My father has been telling me some stories recently and showing me pictures of when he was a kid and had a lifted up toyota and all the fun times he had. So picked one up with the hopes of restoring it and giving it to him as a present. Got one from a few towns over paid 200 bucks, told me it was blown up. Looks exactly like the pictures (besides not having a bed) Did a little work on it, the guy had the plug wires all messed up and a few other things. got it running but theres a knock in the motor.
Been looking around for some rebuild kits but not sure what to get for a top end kit. Can some people give me a few suggestions? I don't want to dump a ton of money into it but would like it to run nice.. found this kit online, any good?

Thanks guys!

Well, the old adage - you get what you pay for - is often more true than not. With that said, you don't have to get silly with your spending. "Engnbldr" has a solid reputation on this site and within the Toyota community at large and has been around for many many years. I used a lot of parts from him when I did my rebuild. Check it out. http://www.engnbldr.com/build-a-kit-85-95.html
I'm sure there are a lot of other options as well. I'd recommend you be very skeptical of "ebay" kits. There's a lot of junk out there.
