Engine rebuild???

Does $900 sound like a good price to have a 22RE rebuilt? That would include the block and head being rebuilt with all new parts. I was thinking of just doing it myself but I have no where to do it nor the time right now. The engine would be rebuilt as close to stock as possible. It is a local place that a friend just had his 22RE rebuilt at and he has used them for numerous other things and he says they do great work and it is the only place he goes..

that is a really good price. i think that mine around here was 1200 to have mine rebuilt to close as spec as possible. i just went and got a re-manned longblock for $1400 that was bored .030 over and a performance cam and then installed it myself

That doesn't sound all that hot to me. I found a place in jacksonville (precision crankshaft) that quoted me $940 for a complete long block. I thought about doing the head gasket job, but for that price I'd be better off getting a long block with a warranty. If you get them to rebuild it and they dont find any problems, then you will come out ahead, if they find a big warp in the head or other major problem you could wind up paying more. Right now I'm using the sodium silicate to keep mine running till I get around to putting in a new engine.

Well after contempalting doing a 4.3l swap in my Yota I decided to rebuild it and I am gonna do it myself. This is the rebuild kit I'm getting. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...d=1,1&item=803 3280783&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT just waiting on a response to make sure it comes with all the gaskets I need. These people come highly recommended from the you on Yota Tech. After talking to a friend I am going to have Wayne's machine shop (local place) do some work for me. I am going to bore it .030 over and maybe have some head work done and of course the cam the kit comes with just want a little more power. I spent yesterday getting the engine ready to come out I just have to take out the bolts in the bellhousing and the motor mounts and OH yea get a engine lift..And a stand Advance has engine stands for $36 but the were out yesterday when I went. I got a buddy thats going to let me borrow his lift so hopefully either this wek or next weekend I'll have it out. forist thing when I get it out is the head and block are getting a acid bath. I made a list of what I am replaceing let me know if I missed anything or if I should add something

valve guides
valve seals
PCV valve
fuel filter
oil filter
air filter
new clutch (maybe if needed)
160 deg thermostat
water pump
injector O-ring kit (if rebuild kit dosen't have them)
head bolts (maybe)
some of the hoses
also might add an eletric fan

Has anybody bought one of the rebuild kits above just want to know what all it comes with
