Engine Re-asssembly and install

Hey every one so after getting some advice from you guys about my project truck I bought that had gotten a little hot. I sent the motor to my machinest and got everything ran through and punched 20 over.

So now I am reassembling every thing this week and am gonna try to install it by the end of the week. I have a few questions..

1. How much do you guys mount on the engine before dropping it in? (Manifolds, head, timing chain ect)

2. Whats the correct way to mount the head? I know the torque sequence and every thing but do you guys loosly mount the head and then throw the front cover on then torque it?

3. Where do I use gasket sealer? Or are all the gaskets dry application?

4. What do I grease? and should I put oil in the cylinders for the first start up?

Any other hints or tips would be sweet!

just did this two weeks ago.

1st did you have your block decked. If so did you give them your timing chain cover so it will match.

is this a 22r, 22re, or 3.0

if 22re put your head on before timing cover so you can view the bottom of your timing chain. once that is all good put on you cover, all your metal coolant pipes, fuel filter, oil pressure sensor and any other sensors on block. put on your lower plenum but wait to put on your upper as you have the wiring harness that goes between.

ted told me on the gaskets that he puts a little rtv on anything that is paper.

Do yourself a favor and really check injector plugs. Mine were dry and didn't notice the #1 was cracked on the inside. Just figured that out when I had a dead cylinder. Thank goodness it was #1 and I could access it without removing plenum.The hardest part for me was getting the darn starter on. lol My previous truck was carbed and I had plenty of room. The efi really crowds the bay

Sorry forgot the other questions. I smeared the walls of the piston chambers with oil and packed my oil pump gears with vasoline for faster priming. I have new head and cam so I poured about half court of my break in oil over my cam and valves before I closed her up and started.

When I do rebuilds, I prime the oil filter with oil and crank the engine over with the ignition disconnected to build up oil pressure just before the initial startup.

X2. Also remove the spark plugs so there isn't pressure building up before you have oil circulating, easier on the starter too.

How about thread lock and anti sieze? Do i thread lock the studs that go into the head?
