I just finished rebuilding my 92 22re and I've got a rattle that I can't figure out. When I first start it rattles for a couple seconds then goes away. When I drive down the road it happens when I let off on the gas and also when my speed levels out. If I give it gas when I'm cruising I don't hear it but when I let off I do. It kind of sounds like ping but the timing is right on the money. It's got a new crank, bearings,pistons and rings, cam,oil pump, timing kit. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.[

 

did you put a new timing chain on it? did you get the bolts in the oil pump correct?
there's a bolt in the oil pump that if you do the wrong one (too long) it'll keep the chain tensioner from working right and you can get a rattle like you described

 

Yes I put a new timing chain on. How/where can I check to see if it's a bolt from the oil pump?
