When I get the motor close to the transmission, I have two long thing Phillip screwdrivers that I run thru some holes on the engine block and transmission to act as guide dowels.

I look at the gap between the motor and transmission and try and keep the gaps even as I get them closer together. Getting the transmission shaft into the pilot bearing is usually the hardest part. Once you get it in and the motor and tranny are together, it usually goes alright after that.

Getting the bolts at the top of the transmission at the 1 and 11 oclock position can be a pain. I use a long extension with a swivel for those.

Thanks for the advice. My transmission seems to have dropped a little after removing the old block. Will i have to jack it up to get it to sit right? I figured the hardest part would be stabbing the transmission back into the motor.

If it has dropped, I would raise it back up with a floor jack and may a block of wood. You will need higher up. If it is sitting on the stablizer bar, I think it is to low. The motor will probably sit on the engine mounts and be to high for the transmission if I remember right.

I just did my 85 transmission and forgot that the 85 dont have the stabilizer bar. I also helped on an 86 that does have the stablilzer bar. The motor being to high could still be a problem if the transmission is to low though.

nothing sits between the mounts. your alt mounting bracket goes over the drivers motor mount. do you have a chilton or haynes? also there is a factory service manual on here.

Based on what im seeing it definitely goes under the motor mount. It wouldnt fit right if it sat over the mount. Where is the service manual on here? Or show me a diagram or something

Just search 22re grounding wires, I remember there's a post where they are located/attached. I THINK that is the one that attaches to the manifold somewhere.

Thanks for the direction on power steering lines. Ive seen every grounding thread available. The one that connect the intake comes from the loom the one in my pic is on the passenger fender side of the engine on the body and there absolitley no info AT ALL on this ground. Someone please chime in as im really trying to get this thing running tonight
