make sure the ECM is plugged in completely.
i had a similar problem with my 95 cutting out. turns out one of the three wire harnesses going into the ECM was in the socket, but not clipped in. I clipped it in and haven't had a problem since.

it is located under the passenger side dash under the carpet.

just for another thougth of a approach.. if you make a turn and your engine stalls out or comes close to it and its not your fuel pump, because you just replaced it, it would be a culprit power steering pump causing your engine to bogg out.

if you ever think this may be a problem its quick diagonose with a floor jack or just buy taking the belt off and making a couple turns

I've only skimmed this thread, but I'd check that your battery is secure and not moving. And then I'd also check to make sure that the wires connected to the battery are true.

I only say this because the previous owner of my truck didn't have any securing brackets in the truck. And so If I came to a hard stop, or turned sharp, or hit a bump, sometimes my truck would die. Come to find out that the battery was moving, and some of the wires connected to the battery were getting pinched and were starting to split.

If you got some bad connections to the battery, It might explain your 'Christine' symptoms too.

had the same problems with a '93 pickup 3.0, i'd replace cap, rotor, and plugs. plug wires too if you have the extra money. ran like a champ afterwars. never had the engine surging/jerking problems again.
