Engine choices!!

I need some opinions........

Next summer I am going to be under taking a huge project! My 89 pickup is going to be torn apart, and rebuilt, not just the engine, the whole truck!

My question is to swap or not to swap!?!?!?!

I am not concerned about weight, cause I will be doing a SAS along with this!

2.4 rebuilt, 2.4 diesel, 3.4, 4.0 (V8), or the mighty 4.7 (V8)

There are some cons about some of these swaps, the diesel would be hard to find parts for, the 4.7 would require a lot of work to make the truck OBDII, and most of the swaps would require a new transmission.

I am leaning towards either of the V8s cause if you are going to do it, then why not do it big, you know? The UZ is what I am leaning too, and my only predicament with the 4.0 is the transmission, cause I can find one that is OBDI, but which transmission could I use?
I want to keep it standard!

well me personily i would go ffor the 3.4sc lighter then the V8 but yet powerful enough to move big tyres and theres alot you can do to make them even more powerful BUt if you do go the 3.4 then make sure you get the 7 injector one!!! go big dont get the 6 injector one trust me you will be very happy with the 7 injector no as for the swap ha ha with the body off makes it so much easier to do and just search around here you'll get all kinds of write-ups and what not on this as everyone is going this way and you can stil use the 4wd with not that much work (unlike the V8) then for the hood problem you;ll get with the 3.4 get a newer hood scoop off a newer 4-runner and cut the hole weld it in and bondo over it looks real clean and nicee and you can smoke most hondas with 35's on your rig hope this helps a little and for a little better boom out of the box dump the bandpass and get a ported box will up the DBS by about 3-6 give or take a few and have fun man post lots of pics even if you go a differnt way cause i wanna do the 3.4 swap ion my truck
