ADD is horrible. It might be better than auto hubs... but it still sucks compared to manual. I had my ADD fail on the first snow fall this year. Actuator seized up. So I removed all the vacuum hoses and locked the actuator fork in place. I will be adding manual hubs soon to keep the front end from turning constantly.

If it seized, it's no doubt from lack of use... maybe not recently from you, but maybe because of previous owners not periodically excercising the system. These systems all have to be used regularly to keep them in working order.
I would think it's probably quite common for somebody to roll into their local dealership at the beginning of winter and say: "My truck won't go into 4x4. I don't know what it could possibly be... it was working fine the last time I used it last winter."

True... you need to use it... that wasn't the problem in my case. The actuator simply decided it had enough. Which can happen to any part of course... still not a fan of the ADD system. Too many variables can go wrong.
