I was driving down the road today and all of a sudden I heard a snap (I thought it was a rock hitting my window) then I lost radio and clock cig lighter. I believe that snap was some sort of electrical short.

The fuse for the radio, clock and cig is fine but the fuse slot doesn't have any power going to it.

Also, when I arrived home, both headlight fuses were blown. Replace and the passenger side keeps blowing but the drivers side seems to hold.

Any ideas?

 

Sounds like a bare wire someplace in that circuit. Start inspecting wires in the area you think the snap occurred in and move out from there.

You have a short in the right head light circuit.

Did the light get hit with a stone??

Just where do you get the voltage for the radio ?? If it lost power with the fuse good it means something is open that supplies voltage to the fuse block.

Did you check both sides of the fuse socket??

Got both issues solved.

The fuse that Google told me was the radio/clock fuse, was incorrect. It was the one next to it and was blown. The fuse itself was very loose and would jiggle out very easily. I'm not sure if that would cause the fuse to blow but I tightened the metal contacts and now the fuse sits in there snug.

The second issue with the head lights was due to the plastic connector being missing and having wire attached to the bulb connectors directly. I found where the short was and used a couple wraps of electrical tape to prevent a short until I get a new plastic connector.

Thanks for the help. I should have spotted these problems yesterday but I was over it after work.
