I dont know that I would say dumped... its still a ISB block with a large bore. Its no more redesigned that it was from 02 to 03, but now has a larger bore. Its not so much more equipment being bolted to the engine for smog as it is a new fuel, ultra low sulfer. The increased displacment will allow for lower EGT's at the same power.. which willl be nice since the 06 version runs really really hot. My dad can get his to 1200 empty without thinking about it, and 1400+ towing when he hits a hill.. thats hades hot for a diesel.

And diesel fuel does burn much cleaner, it just happens to have more visible and stinkier polutants.. which is why americans hate diesel.. and it really pisses me off since diesel is a far superier fuel, IMO.. I like how it drives, develops power, durability, and economy...

Back to the EGR thing... I am quasi interested since I would love to clean up my engine bay...but am also of the mind that toyota did a pretty damn good job building it in the first place..

So....does anyone know where to get a block off plate kit for the 3vze yet? I busted the tube going from the header to the egr valve, and I'd like to just block it off.

I looked at LC egineering and they sell one for the 22re but not 3vze

Thinking about just cutting up a piece of metal that fits the end of the EGR tube and bolting it on to the intake and doing the same for the manifold.

My EGR sucked a BB up into the control line on my 3vze about 7 years and 125,000 miles ago.

The engine sports 258,000 miles, and the original head gaskets, valves, and the original catalytic converter too. Still passes smog.

I figure at 258,000 I have so much blow-by going back in via the PCV system that I already have EGR.

I know I'm draggin a thread from the dead. but essentially our "pollutions" while in a sense needing to be controlled to an exten, but i must ask what about a volcano erupting... it is a natural occurence and releases "tons of pollutants", but yet the atmosphere never truly seems to suffer from it permenantly. just my 02 cents

i left my whole system intact and pulled the egr tube out of the manifold and welded the holes shut and put it all back together works great and looks functional
