egr 22re

egr 22re

my truck was lopin. well i started takin vacum lines loose and when i took the line off the top of egr it cleared up and idles nice and smooth. so does that mean its stopped up? what will happen if i leave the line off? thanks

no if u took the vac line lose and it idol
ed good its open it wont hurt nothing if u leave lose but your check e light going to come on best 2 find the problem could be a 1 time thing check if the vac line has vacum on it it shouldnt at idol

if you pulled the vac line of the EGR and things ran better, I'd bet the VSV for the EGR valve is bad.

but you may have a trouble code stored. pull it and post it.

can i clean the vsv or is that something i'll just have to replace? as far as codes, it's not throwin any. you do mean the check engine light codes right?

the vsv's are the 3 things on top of valve cover right? what is each one for?

Not sure what one but you can take them apart. I just did it a few days ago. There is a little plunger inside that can get stuck (this is what happend to the ADD VSV that I have).

clean the throttle body and that valve underneath with throttle body cleaner. valve could be stuck open
