ECU repair

93 Toyota, cab and chassis, V6, auto with dual rear wheels.

My diagnostics are pointing to replacing ECM in the Toy, I am chasing that down in another thread. I tried to find a returnable one for testing locally and no luck there. Also found out that it could be 10 days to get a new/rebuilt ECM. So jumping the gun here to check other options.

There is nothing available in the local parts yards or Craigs LIst. Anyone in the Ft Myers area that will lend me one for testing

I found a re builder on Ebay, I send my unit in, $200 later they send back. Claims 2 day turn around. I like this option as I get my ECM back, the dual rear wheel one has different numbers on it.

Are there any other options, or better place to get this done? Thanks Jim

Any v6 auto trans one will work as long as the plugs are the same. They changed around 93. I cant believe you cant find one. 4runners are the same.

Also these ecus are very tough. I would really suspect everything else before ecu.

Yes!

The FSM was written by folks looking at near-new trucks. While the ECMs failed only rarely, it was even rarer to have a wiring problem, for instance. Flash forward to 25 years later: if the ECM hasn't failed yet, it probably never will. But the wiring, sensors, etc. are exposed to wear.

Except for water get water in through the plugs it is pretty much done.

I went through three one of which was brand new .

Since I have moved the ECU to the bottom of the heater box no issues for quit some time.

I was quite happy with ECM Depot out of Texas
