ecu bad?

I have been having divablity and mpg problems for a while now and when I pulled the codes from the computer i had two, one for tps and the other for coolant temp. I just changed the coolant temp sensor about a year ago, and when i test the the tps and temp sensor i never find a promblem. I clear the computer and the codes return. When you jump the the dia connector to check timing the idle speed never changes(usally a tps prob). All the powers and grounds are good on ecu, so im guessing its bad.

How common is it to have a bad ecu?

Just nerves because i dont like paying $100 from junk yard for used ecu but it better than $700 new.

Does anyone live near you that has the same ECU? To use as a test one??

There is a place in Texas ECM Depot where you can buy a life time **warranty ** rebuilt one with your core for around $300.00

Different models might be less or more.

Great people to deal with

** Within reason stupid is never warrantied !!

ive recently almost been in same scenario. i got a code 14 which is ign signal. was gonna be three things... ecu, short from igniter to ecu, igniter. I didnt have alot of luck finding an ecu and when I did was around 5 bills... I just replaced my igniter and coil at same time for 350 and hoped for the best... needless to say problem solved but man it was close... according to most people I talk to mines not common of going out

" All the powers and grounds are good on ecu, so im guessing its bad."

Just to clarify, does this mean you checked all the wires relevant to your issue for connectivity and volts along with testing the Ecu grounds and volts?
I had a big problem with broken wires connecting my coolant temp sensor inside my harness that I had to cut out and rewire and it was causing bucking, poor MPG, and no starts.
