E-Locker gear delima

Can someone clarify for me if a regular 8"ring and pinion will fit a e-locker from a TRD Taco, I keep seeing yes it will then read on about it somewhere else and it Say's you need a special gear and pinion oh the confusion.

If I need a special ring and pinion where can I find a 5.29 set up for one going to install in my 84 4 cylinder front axle and yes I know I need to clearance the axle for the 3rd member.

Here's the point of confusion - a "normal" Toyota 8" is not "normal" on a Tacoma, as the non-TRD uses the "8.4" diff, which uses different gears.

So, yes, you can use any 8" <1995.5 gearset from a pre-Tacoma truck/4Runner, or even 3rd gen 4Runner.

I would be concerned buying gears from anywhere that didn't know that ...

All that said, high pinion from a 80-series Landcruiser would be the hot setup for a front axle. 30% stronger, and better driveline angles.
