I really like the full floater.

But if your using a line lock then it's really not an e-brake just a parking brake. I ripped a brake line out on a trail and was thankful for the e-brake through it doesn't brake very good. Line locks won't work without brake fluid and brake depressed to set.

There are two types of line locks mechanical and electrical. Mechanical ones shouldn't drain battery but gotta run lines to mount it into the cab.

good point on it being a parking brake and not an -e brake. You mentioned you had a chain drive case, what's stopping you from using a t-case mounted brake? Do they not make one?

 

No, chain drive, gear driven t-cases.

I'll compare cost when a disc conversion that uses stock parking brake comes out.

I had gotten a conversion kit hadn't installed before being stationed in Germany. So truck went to storage at father in laws. Parts went in storage through a storage company but several things came up missing after: disc conversion kit, FSM, 3/4 inch socket set......

Just weighing options, again.

 

I like my disc brake conversion. I also like my tcase ebrake. However, I sure would like to have a rear disc ebrake though because of the possiblities of one tire slipping and causing the truck to move......

I need to do some research regarding rim size to clear such a conversion. I don't think 15" rims were a factory option for any of vehicles listed.

 

Hardest part is going to be finding backing plates. New they are around 300$.

I may try to make my opwn backing plates if they aren't too complicated.

 

Not sure what you mean about backing plates, think I would need to see it.

Backing plate is essential for a drum brake to function, unlike a disc/caliper set-up

 

exactly what I was thinking might have to upgrade to 16" rims.

 

Curious if anyone has tried late 80s/early 90s RX7 rear calipers for their swap? The are side pull cable by design.
