E-brake light fluke

My red brake light is acting wierd. It started coming on when I shift from first to second and second to third gear. I'm sure it has less to do with which gears and more to do with those shifts having more difference in acceleration. In any case has anyone else had a flaky e-brake sensor or does that light come on for other brake problems?

My wifes '97 brake light would come on, thought it was the parking brake lever, ended up being low on fluid

Yup, check the fluid level, the sensors seem to be very sensitive in Yotas.

Yes, check the fluid level, but it also could be an indication that your brakes need some matintenance like new pads/shoes.

Brake pads should be ok.... but low brake fluid makes sense... the funny thing is ~3 weeks ago I woke up and my clutch fluid was low, luckily it had enough shift in it to get to the auto parts store... I'll check the brake fluid. It would also make sense with the acceleration causing it to go on and off....

thanks for the tips

I just had this problem in my 2nd gen last week. Checked the brake fluid and it was below the minimum. Filled it up, light still isnt going completely off. I found by pressing in the button (that gets pressed in my my pull lever) that the pull lever is malfunctioning... gotta fix it one of these days, but for the time being, it's just making the light glow.

yup it was the fluid.... it wasn't under min but it was low enough that with heavy acceleration follwed by the clutch it could have dropped below min on one side.. thanks guys
