Driveshaft and truck will not start!

I was heading down a main road in Phoenix and my rear u-joint broke. I had it to towed to dicks and had a brand new drive shaft and u-joints put in. Well as I was trying to start it it runs for 5 seconds and cuts out and dies. It all started when the drive shaft fell and the u-joint broke? Anyone have any suggestions or comments please reply! I've checked the o2 sensor wire and and it wasn't pinched or anything. I've checked the fuel lines as well! The vehicle is 1991 toyota 4runner 4x4 22re!

I hope you bought a lottery ticket. The day you walk away from broken driveshaft may be the luckiest day of your life.

"runs 5 seconds then dies" is the classic sign of a VAF/COR issue. Very easy to test for: jumper FP to B+ on the diagnostic connector. With Key-ON you should be able to hear the fuel pump. If it starts and runs now, you problem is in the VAF/COR circuit.

Did your afm come unplugged? It's the wires that plug in just behind your airbox. We probably don't need pictures of you driveshaft for this one. Although we do love all Toyota pictures. A drive shaft snapping wont cause a Toyota to not start. I have pulled a rear one that snapped and drove it home in "front wheel drive". Kinda fun actually. Did it do any damage under the truck when it snapped?(vacuums lines for ADD. Although I don't think that would cause it to not start. More info needed. Maybe a pic or 2 of the engine compartment. Maybe something vibrated loose in towing just bad timing.
