driveshaft question

I have a 1988 toyota 4runner.I broke the 5speed.Had a 4speed with transfer case,put it in and its 4.5 inches too short.Is there a drive shaft out of another truck that would fit?

4spd as in an automatic? or 4spd as in a 4spd from pre '85 yotas...?

Why didn't you just put in another 5spd?
