Which drive train do I have???

I have a 1989 pickup with a 22RE and an automatic and a transfer case with its own oil pan.
I am looking to drain and replace the filter but I do not know how much ATF to put back in it.
What do I have?
Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you, Phessor

Are you looking to drain and re-fill the tranny or Xfer case?

It has a leak at the transmission pan so I figured I would drain and replace the filter while I was at it.
I just wanted to make sure I got the right filter, pan gasket and enough ATF fluid before I started.

You mentioned the separate pan on the transfer case, you should also see that the transfercase is not removable and that there are hydraulic lines coming out the back. If that is what you are looking at then:-
Your transmission is a A340H.

The tranny and Tcase share the same fluid. They would have called for Dexron II, so any Dexron equivalent replacement is what you will want to use.

If you look at the sticker in your driver side door jamb, it will tell you what transmission you have.

+1 on the A340H if they have separate pans, if there is only one pan then its an A340F. Transfer has gear oil, trans has Dex II
