downey torsions; left/right part numbers?

bought some downey torsions.. Curious if there is a certain direction or side these are supposed to go in.

heres the part numbers on the bars..

downey48161-R2X8 - marked with white paint.
downey48162-R(Rest is rubbed off) - marked with yellow paint

mmm I would think not. Is there a keyway in the splines? I have Downeys too, but I did not instal m.

there's keyways in the end that slide into the adjustment paw if I'm not mistaken, but I think the end that slides into the mounts on the control arms have no keyways I think

correct me if I'm wrong though

there are key ways in both sides; on both torsion bars.

oh I was talking about 4wd's... probably a keyway on both ends of them too though

I know nothing about 2wd front suspensions, other than there's no front diff, and the t-bars mount to the lower arms as apposed to the uppers like on a 4wd

Look for a "L" or "R" stamped in the end IIRC, its been a long time since I installed mine.

thanks guys. I saved your picture and do see the stamped L/R on the ends.. Kinda hard to see!

Hate to ask a stupid question, but I just got a used set of Downey T-bars for my 86 4runner, I can clearly see them marked R & L on the end, but want to be sure that the left side is the driver side correct?

Yes sir. The spline ends are also different sizes so you can't mix them up (like have them facing the wrong way on the left side)
