Dowl pins in dual transfer case setup / shift rod question
I installed a Trail Gear dual adapter this past weekend in my SAS 86 4Runner. I noticed in the parts bag I had two dowel pins left after I had installed the setup. Nowhere in the instructions did it mention these pins and they are not listed in the parts list. Come to find out, they are used between the crawl box and adapter.
Are these dowel pins only for alignment? Or do they prevent rotation movement of the case due to torque (i.e. prevent the studs from shearing)? Just trying to find out if I need to tear the whole thing apart again.
Also, I noticed in other kits the instructions say to shave the shift rod of the rear case so that it does not interfere with the shift rod in the front case. Trail Gear doesn't mention this, but I did notice that in certain positions, the rear shifter seemed to move the front shifter slightly. Anyone have experience with this on the Trail Gear setup?
Also, should there be a gasket between the front t-case and the transmission? The kit didn't come with one and I decided to RTV it. Thanks for the help.

Ok, another question...
I noticed if I put the back t-case in 4 hi, and the front t-case in low, the rear t-case shifter will bind up to where I have to take it out and just barely move a shift rail to get it unstuck. Anyone have this problem? Could this be contributed to the shift rail not being ground down on the end as other instructions from different companies state? Thanks.
