Door panel swap

I have been searching but haven't found a definite answer. I want to upgrade my interior with power windows/locks/mirrors. It seems way easier to find a runner with a loaded interior than a truck. Will the door panel or a 4 runner work on my x-cab truck? What about the power windows and mirrors? The place local to me seems to have runner after runner but no trucks.

Thanks for any help,
Jason

It might be easier just to swap doors.

That might work, but then I'd need to find the right color. It would be worth it though. Those 4 runner panels are way nicer than my vinyl ones.

I have the sr5 cloth panels

Well, you do have some body damage, to fix it right you will need paint.....

You can swap the inner door skins (panels) no problem this is what I did. However you must use the skins from a two door runner, the front doors on the 4door are shorter also you will most likely have to make a custom harness for the power goodie wiring since it almost definitely won't be there. Not to bad a job but a major PITA.

as another option you could just wrap the vinyl skins with fabric and customize them yourself. for the power goodies there are aftermarket options.

Good info but.....I don't know about everyone else but, I rarely see a two-door 2nd gen runner, let alone one I can strip for parts!

There is a 2 door runner in the complex here....but I don't think he would be too happy if his door panels were gone. Jay...is there a 2 door at alpis?

Thanks for all info.

Do you know what color the interior is? It would have to be an SR5 though since my door panels are in great shape...just want to upgrade.

I know aviator already stated, but the 4runner doors are shorter than the truck doors, thus the panels will not work.

Find an SR5 Truck, or a 2 door 4runner, and swap all the guts from them.

Thanks Deathcougar.

And just to beat this topic to death....would the internals matter if they are from a 4 runner? I'll be upgrading to power windows and not sure of the extent of parts I have to swap out.

Thanks

if the internals were from a 4 dr, yes it will matter. The 2door internals should be the same though. the internals (wiring etc) from a 4 door 4runner are obviously set up for 4 power windows, and also power mirrors and locks.

The motors and actuators are all the same so no problem the window regulator is different, and the driver's side switches for the window/locks are different. The mirror control switch is the same. The pax door switches are the same but the plate they are mounted in is different (slightly shorter i think but I've never measured it). The mirrors themselves use the same mount but are a different shape so you'd need to get a pair of them.

getting controls from a 4 door runner sucks because you'll have four window switches, but a pickup only has two windows. i didn't think of that till i got all the parts home

you could wire up the extra switches for other purposes... power tail gate anyone?... air suspension controls?... aftermarket power sunroof controls?...
pax. ejection seat?... machine guns?... oil spray?... garage door controller?...
Use your imagination...

maybe macguyver the power rear window motors from a Chrysler mini van in to control the xtra cab rear windows?
