Door Panel Removal

Door Panel Removal
So I have found virtually nothing regarding this subject and I'm sure the answer is "pull harder" but something doesn't seem right. How do I remove the plate behind the door release of a 1994 4Runner? I removed the screw in the middle of the plate but the thing is still securley mounted to the door. I fiddled with some clippy thing that lives under the latch but found no way to release the plate. I've removed many a door panel without incident but I've pried and shifted and otherwise screwed around with this toylet's plate for some time now and I just can't bring myself to go hog-wild and break it off to learn the secret.
Just so we are clear: I'm talking about the Plastic Trim Plate that is behind the door latch/handle/opener; or whatever you want to call it, on the inside of the vehicle.

the interior door handle and trim plate are one piece. After removing that screw, slide the handle/trim plate assy forward, THEN pull out. There are 4 tabs that keep it securly locked to the inner door shell. It should pop forward about 1/2-3/4" or so.

x2 on what DeathCougar said, then, there's a small plastic clip that holds the metal rod to the door handle that needs to be rotated so that you can remove the door handle completely. You'll see what I mean after you pop the handle loose from the door.
