Dome light only works with ignition?

Ok, so would anyone like to explain why my dome light only works when the ignition is in the on position? It's really annoying. Both door switches work fine, but if the key's not on, neither is the light...

Probably the wiring is dysfunctional. The ignition switch power circuit to the light is seperate from the switch at the light. Just start tracking down where the latter circuit has died. Pull the dome off and start there. And, of course, check your fuses.

I would guess that something is broken and the light is somehow grounding through the buzzer circuit when the key is on. Will the domelight come on when it the domelight itself is turned to "on" instead of "door?" Has anyone messed with the fusebox or anything electrical who could have accidentally re-wired the circuit?

Consider yourself lucky it works at all. Mine quit completely a few years ago.

Sorry I can't help.
