does a sas ride bad?
#41
for all of you guys that have sas on their trucks. does this ride worse than stock IFS? i have a toyota pickup extended cab with 4 inch suspension and 3 inch body rolling 37 inch iroks. the torsion bars are as loose as they will go and the a arms are flat but it still doesnt ride very good and i REALLY want to do the sas on my truck. the biggest selling point will be it riding as good or better as my IFS.

by broken what do you mean? like snap in half? or worn it to the point of loud aggrivating clicking? because i do a little bit of crawling. i mean about once a year i go up north. its real muddy crawling. its slippery and steep.

oh by the way, i got the money to buy the ifs eliminator kit so im just gonna do that. sorry about the pointless forum. i would much rather buy the kit because its a proven and ver tested kit and i like funding companys that make stuff like this for out trucks. they keep us together!

I absolutely love driving my truck. After I did the SAS I was amazed how well it handles and feels. Before the SAS I did a full rebuild on my IFS front end. It was not like I was dealing with a worn out IFS and then did the swap. I could make a reasonable distinction between the two.
I like the feel and handling of the solid better than the IFS hands down!

Obviously if you do a SAS then it is because you need (for practical or recreational purposes) greater articulation. For me the biggest motivator is the ability to easily move the front axle centerline forward 2 inches or so. Approach angle in the only holdup I have had offroad when I needed to get to something. Beyond that I am on the highway or just playing for the hell of it.
Glad to hear the SAS seems to leave you with a better ride than the stock IFS.
Great Build Thread.
