i have a 87 toyota 4x4 with the 22r and when i try to adjust the timing nothing happenes. the motor dosent change a bit.any input would be greatly appresiated.The truck also has rough idle,runs rich,and back fires when u let off the gas.

 

do you have the jumper placed correctly in the diagnostics connector for timing? I'm sure others will chime in...
