Dissabled egr, Questions.

Alright guys, on my 3.0 i took the vac hoses off the egr to try it and see how it does, I didnt really notice a difference. All im hoping for is better mileage. Only a few questions, 1. how do i know if its pinging, what does it sound like and feel like? 2. if i pulled the hoses off the egr side, do i need to plug the holes in the egr, or is it just being closed good enough? Also on the timing, if that needs changing, is it as simple as turning the distributor slightly?

Best thing to do is to just block off the EGR gas flow that goes into the plenum. Like said earlier, you shouldn't notice any difference unless your EGR is stuck open or something.
