difficult to shift back to 2H
hey when shift to 4H or 4L its no problem. but when i shift into 4WD and then back to 2WD theres alot of difficulty and it takes like 20 tries untill it shifts back into 2WD and it makes like a loud thud or click when it engages 2WD. i have a theory that the gears are not sycronized and i should back up a little and then try it again.
so anyone please let me know whats going on with my truck thanks.

As you are backing up put a little pressure on the lever to put it back in 2wd. Once you feel it catch a little bit, jam it into 2wd. Thats what my buddy has to do. Doesnt look or sound nice, but it gets the job done

try it at a slow roll; maybe 5-10 mph
you'd be surprised how easy it'll just FALL back into 2wd
use to shift on the fly like that all the time in my 91
4wd to 2wd on the fly shifting is fine, but you should come to a stop if you're going from 2wd to 4wd

Mine's a bit difficult going from 4 into 2wd. I find that a slow roll in neutral it'll pop right in with no fuss at all.
In the wintertime during snow storms where some roads are covered and some are bare, I leave my hubs locked and shift from 2-4 and back to 2 all the time on the fly. Keeping it below 45mph when I do. No resistance at all.
