Exclamation Differential problem?/locker install?

Ok here's the scoop.

I bought my truck from a family friend which he bought from someone else... some where down the line before him the truck was TOTALY redone from an accident or something for that matter.

I mean there's proof of a 2wd cab on a 4wd chassis.

So this brings up another deal that I found out today while trying to install a rear locker.

I went ahead and bought a Aussie locker for a 4wd 4cl, not knowing which rear differential I had since I couldn't go off of VIN numbers.

Progress so far:

Anyone noticing the problem yet?

My differential kinda looks like this picture I got of off Eriks Diff Page of a V6 differential.

I admit I guess I never really looked under the truck to check for the 4cl and 6cl differential housing differences.

Now that that's in the past what are my options?

1 - return the Aussie and look for a 6cl differential locker.
2 - sell off my 6cl rear diff for a 4cl rear diff and keep the Aussie locker. While having to make sure all the gearing will remain the same for my truck... which at this point I still don't even know my own gearing since I can't use VINs and I never got around to doing the axle/drive shaft method.

So does anyone have any imput for this situation or what would you guys do?

I honestly would like to keep the Aussie so I'm already looking around for a 4cl third. Now are there any pros/cons or strengths/weaknesses in switching over to the 4cl third. Is the 6cl going to be stronger than the 4cl? That kinda thing, I'm just trying to figure out what was the reasoning behind this other than "oh here's a third that works lets put'er in"

iirc, the v6 thirds have bigger carrier bearings as well as a bigger pinion bearing. and a slightly taller pinion head. i would say they are a lil stronger, but not by much. nothing to worry about.

Aussie hasn't gotten around to releasing a locker for the v6/turbo housing.

You can however, stick the I4 locker in the v6 housing. Search around, you need a few extra parts.
