differences between 22r and 22rte
Hi i just created an account and this is my first post so sorry if this has been covered before but i did look around before creating it. I am currently in the market for an 80's toyota. I have been searching around for the past 4 or 5 months and i believe i have finally found the truck that will soon be mine. I have found an 86 pickup with the 22rte for pretty cheap. The only thing is that it has a cracked cylinder head so i need to replace it, so i figured i would just replace all major components while i was in there. What i want to know is "are all the parts the same as a 22r/e? or do i have to find turbo specific parts? I already found out that the cylinder heads themselves are different but i would like to know more about smaller items like:
-water pump
-oil pump
-timing chain
-timing chain cover
also any other info i might need to know about doing this job... Thanks alot and hope to get some good feedback

Burt - welcome to the forum. I don't know about the specific differences myself, but go to http://www.engnbldr.com/ and email him your questions and most definitely buy your parts from him. His prices are great and his service is phenomenal.
Good luck.
Good luck.
