Has anybody here actually performed a 1kz-te with a auto. swap into a 2nd gen. 4-runner with a 3.0 v6 and a auto tranny. If so what are the major obstacles.I'm a welder/machinest and a pretty good mechanic with many tools.I need concrete info no ors, ifs, ands and buts.

From what i've seen there is a member who buys half trucks, everything from the shifter forward with the diesel and swaps those in. You would most likely need new mounts, and I believe you would need to flip the transfer case a 180 degrees because due to steering components the front diff is on the other side. Besides that you need to run new fuel lines, and I do mean all of them gas in a diesel engine, even just a little bit is a really bad thing, so that means fuel filters, pumps, prolly even the tank have to be replaced. You most likely will need custom drive shafts or the ones to fit a diesel 4runner. Plus things like wiring harness and ECU plus you need a new tach as a diesel redlines closer to 3500 rpm than the 6 or 7 the 3vze does. Now aside from all this, its a Toyota Diesel, the most sought after motor in all of north america, and the most durable of all toyota motors. This plus the gas milage makes the headache of the swap worth it.

And Hill how much do you know about hte 3VZ-E? I need to rebuild the core i'm going to buy and you just so happen to be in my neck of the woods, always glad to have someone I can ask questions of

Dan
