Deckplate Type Mod for 3.0

I've been wondering about a deckplate-type mod for my 3.0. Of course, the airbox is round and will need a little different design than the square box mods.
My concern is that if the airflow is increased, it will screw up the computer-controlled air/fuel system.
Any ideas those concerns? Will increasing the airflow cause problems?

If the increase in airflow occurs before the VAF there should be no problems.

Same, along with the ISR mod.

That's kind of what I had in mind, maybe a screen or something along the bottom of the box.
Thanks to Bob 98SR5 for the idea and thanks for the link and advice.
I'll search the "ISR mod".

I always search first, sometimes I don't find what I'm looking for.

drilling your airbox will work for virtually any motor...

I did a search for the "ISR mod" and this thread came in at the top of the list.

Hopefully, I can do something a little better than just drill holes in the airbox, maybe a screen or mesh panel on the bottom or sides.

I was kind of joking about the search deal.

ISR mod looks like a good trick, comboed with a little airbox work should offer some low cost performance improvement.
It will be nice to do a little work on the truck where I don't have to crawl underneath the thing for a change(until my new rear springs get here).

this is the one that im going to be using: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f130...4runner-75167/
also, if you have an autozone nearby, then go and pick up a cone filter adapter... its really nothing more than a little bit louder sound, but it looks good...

Lots of good ISR mod ideas, definitely going to do it. I live in the boonies, no Autozone nearby, NAPA, Home Depot, Ace and Schucks are all I've got.
I'm wondering if a metal muffler pipe is a little heavy for a couple of hose clamps to hold up.

Got my rear coils yesterday so I'll be crawling in the pine straw one more Saturday. Usually, it's either raining or snowing by now so I've got to take advantage of another clear, but cold day.

hmm... well, i believe that you can order the adapter for the cone filter from the autozone website if you wanted it, and the hose clamps would work, but IMHO, i would also go on autozone website to get the SPECTRE brand rubber hose adapters, and then hose clamp over them... yeah, it will work because i imagine that its a LOT lighter than some of the guys running a bunch of PVC with 90* bends in it... (im not knockin those that do)
