Dana 60 straight front+engine swap
I have a Dana 60 setup off a Ford. Diff is on drivers side.
--86 4Runner 22RE
--6' lift
My 22RE is tuned nearly perfect but i smashed my front end rambling. Only broke some fixable parts but want to make the axle swap.
I've heard that one of the TACOMA engines has the trans on the drivers side on the 4x4. Any truth to that?
What other mounts are available for say even a v8?
let me know if you've got some knowledge

Yes, the tacomas have a driver side drop. How are you hanging the axle? leafs? and what are you going to do with the rear as far as width? bolt pattern? No other motor besides the 22re will bolt directly into the truck. your going to have to make some sort of motor mounts/tranny mounts/custom drive shafts/wiring the new engine etc.

Trade your driver side dana 60 for a pass. side one, Chevy's (before 88 for 1/2 and 3/4 ton, and til 91 for 1 ton) and Dodge's (before 94, maybe 93) used pass. side drop differentials.
Chevy dana 60s are usually expensive, you might be able to trade for a 1/2 ton dana 44 with a matching 12 bolt rear. They'll be plenty strong enough for a 22re, even with big tires, and it has the same lug patern as our 'yotas.
