CVC Joint

I'm bout to replace a drivers side cvc joint in my 1986 Toyota 4x4 pickup .Its for the 4x4.Is there any specific tool I need to do this?

Knock the studs out of the flange with a long pipe, then you can slip the CV out the down and out rather than taking off a ball joint.

86-95 have the same cv joints and since he posted in this section, we must be talking about 86-95.

just typical tools ( jack, jack stands, sockets ) specialty tools will definitely speed up your time spent. ( snap ring pliers ) you'll thank me later.

Do some reading on this forum first. There are lots of opinions and differing experiences with this particular task. Be prepared to run into some roadblocks. Above all, be safe. Depending on how you do it, you're dealing with lying under a lifted truck and/or putting considerable pressure on the suspension, both situations involving enough weight and tension to seriously injure you if you don't practice good safe procedures.

OK I took out the cvc joint last night.Going to put the new one tonight. Is there anything I should before I put it in beside grease it? Oh it was rusted inside where the rod goes in place don't know the the specific words this.Hope yall be able to figure this.

Just did mine, yes grease up the shaft well.

Just a technicality, but just FYI, they're CV joints, not CVC joints . Good luck on your replacement, don't let them get the better of you!
