Cv axle and lift leveling 89 runner
I just bought an 89 4runner for $500 to 3.4 swap and clean up to sell. The cv axles are both broken under the boot. It's geared to 5.29 front and rear. Trucks sitting on 35" tires. The front is body lifted >.< and rear is lifted with leafs. I don't know much about lifts at all except I can identify a body lift to a suspension lift. Rears higher than front . Hate the look of it with cheap body lift in the front.
1) is there a way to level the truck out? The rear sits an inch or two higher than the front.
2) with 5.29 gears on 35's with that lift. I'd think the reason the cv axles both snapped is because they're not beefy enough to push 35's. What cv axles should I be looking into getting? Are stock cv axles from kragen a bad idea?
3) having those cv axles broken, possible that it RUIINED my 5.29 gears up front? Thank u for any advice. Ill post a pic when I get time.

Body lift in the front? I doubt that, as its a 4runner not a pickup and it looks (to me) like the body is lifted the same throughout. If you want to raise the front, try ball joint spacers if it doesn't have them. If there are no blocks in the back, you'd have to get different springs to lower the back. Now, if you are wheeling and pushing the truck, yes the front CV's may break often with 35's, but on the highway and mild stuff, should be okay. Check how severe you CV angle is. I doubt the axles could hurt your gears. Once the axle breaks, it won't turn with the tires no matter if the hub is locked or not.

Hi Yamiryder. Thank you for your reply.
The tires turned. I pushed her on the trailer. U can feel the break under my cv boots. I looked into BJ spacers and think ill do that. Was thinking about pulling a leaf in the back. The front shocks look stock. (Not extended out like the rear is) And the shifter in my cab is real low. Looks like the body was lifted to it. That'd be nice if i was wrong and the suspension was lifted but I didn't think so. Like I said. I'm not to good wjth lifts. I'm not doing much with the truck once it's done. I got her for cheap. Imma clean her up, do a 3.4 swap in it and sell it.

I'm almost sure it's body lifted by looking at it. And the CV's always go where the boot is. Usually, the boot rips, allowing dirt to get in and wear out the joint. And yes, if it's body lifted there will be stock shocks on the front.

Right on man. Thank you for the advice. When I get the engine out, I'm gonna try new cv axles and BJ spacers maybe crank the torsion bar if I can and see how she sits.

Did my BJ spacer kit, sway bar diff drop. Almost leveled out but had a few more questions. I'm thinkin of pulling an add a leaf cause I know when I drop my engine in it'll sit the front end down more. Anyways so she sits on 35's and with the engine swap I ain't buying 33's plus it's already geared for 35's. Here's two pics of my body lift they're 3" blocks. And a pic of my leaf springs.
---If I take this body lift off, will it clear these 35's ok? Or am I wasting my time even thinking about it?
Rear-
Front
The truc how it currently sits.
And leaf springs
Thanks for any advise

if you take those plates off there is a center bolt you can remove and then remove leafs and then reolace the bolt. you have a 3" body lift, and it looks like someone put a different leaf pack in the back because those dont look like factory toyota springs.

Thanks for the reply. And deffinently not factory springs. A bit different from my 88. My problem is I can't remove the plates. The bolt on top of the spring seat turns the whole bolt through . Should I try to hammer a big tapered punch on the bottom plate to remove it?
