Cruise control stopped working
The cruise control on my '94 3vze 4x4 pickup went out. The light still comes on, but it will not set. There are no error codes.
Any suggestions?

Try squirting a little wd40 on the brakelight switch. My switch was sticking on the computer read it as me having the brake on and wouldn't activate the cruise. Worked on mine anyway.

The brake light will prevent the cruise from engaging. In my case it is a bad brake fluid level sensor on the master cylinder. It intermittently thinks the fluid level is low, triggers the brake light, and shuts off the cruise.

I took the brake-light switch off and apart and cleaned it thoroughly as well as bench tested it with a multi-meter for continuity, but this did not fix the problem.
When driving I put it into some sort of debug mode by holding the speed set button down for about 5 seconds while turning on the cruise control. The cruise light then blinked about every half second (blinks at regular intervals, not a code). This blinking would stop when I pressed the brake indicating to me that the brake-light switch was doing its thing. The blinking would also stop below a certain speed (about 40mph).
Any other suggestions?

You may also want to check the vacuum diaphragm in the modulator.
*Edit - by brake light I mean the light in the dash, not the tail lights. In case that was confusing.

The brake fluid reservoir cap has a fluid level sensor that turns instrument cluster dash brake light on if the fluid level is low. Factory service manual cruise info:

I tested the vacuum pump and the resistance of the actuator and both were good. Then I applied voltage and vacuum to the actuator and when voltage was applied, the actuator could not maintain any vacuum. I took the actuator apart and found a small tear in the diaphragm of the actuator. I'm not sure if it can be fixed, but I think I found my problem.

Since this is a relatively new thread, I figured I'd ask a question in it. I threw on my Cruise in my 92' 4R (Auto) yesterday and the Spedo kicked down from 65 to 0mph for about 15 seconds and then kicked back up to 65 and my Cruise stopped working. I saw the cruise light flash 3 times before it went out.
What could have done this and how to do I go about fixing this ?
