cruise control flashing/ high idle???
Got a 95 4runner, 3VZE automatic 2wd. Until today, cruise control worked fine. Now, when I attempt to set it, the cruise light just blinks and won't. Any ideas?
Also, the engine idles about 1250 in park or neutral, which seems a bit high to me.
Thanks for any input

I have the same thing happen. When it does blink i can't use cruise until i turn the truck back on. First time my CEL went on so i figured it was that. But not sure. Bad connection some where (hitting the wheel) could be the cause.
I had another long shot thought of maybe driving conditions. I know in some other vehicles you can not engage cruise in bad conditions such as snow (temp regulated). However this was on a much newer more expensive suv.
When my buddies 3vze idled high it was a mess of egr problems. On my 22re it was a simple throttle adjustment.
Is your check engine light on?

When our speedometer cable was going out, (95 Runner, 3.0) the speedometer needle would wobble.
That would kick off the cruise control and make the cruise light blink.
After I replaced the cable, (Ugh, nightmare!) it worked fine.
My $.02,

Okay, so, suprisingly, hitting the steering wheel worked. Sometimes its the simple things.
Anyway, just got done with the SeaFoam treatment, seems to have helped tremendously, idle is a bit better, still higher than I'd like, but better.
