Crazy high idle when cold.

My truck developed a problem where it will idle around 1500 or even as high as 2000 rpms when it's cold. Once it gets to operating temps it goes down slowly to the 750 or 800 rpms i have it set at.

What could be causing this?

It is supposed to do that for warm-up, when the engine reaches normal operating temp it goes back down.

Sounds perfectly normal to me. Up here when its gets to be -30C/-22F the idle definitely goes above 2000 then settles down to normal idle speed once it hits normal operating temp.

is it even normal for it to start and idle that high while it's 60+/- a few degrees?
