Crank replace, turns over wont start

So i have everything buttoned up after spinning a bearing months ago. Replaced a rod and crankshaft. Got everything but the distributer put in yesterday before sun down. After getting the Dis. in i found i had nnumerous fuel leaks due to torn injector o-rings. Took the plenium back off and corrected the issue. After putting everything back together it turns over but wont catch. I have compression, fuel and spark. All timing marks were where they should be. Dis. button was pointing at #1 and crank was at 0 mark. When i crank i am getting smoke or a vapor from my air box and i can see the air tube from the throttle body to the air cleaner pulsate. The only thing i can think of is a problem with my AFM possibly? Any ideas or input would be greatly appreceiated!!

My guess is you're 180 degrees out. You had the crank on the zero mark, but the cams were saying "exhaust stroke." You may need to pull the distributor, turn the crank one turn, then put the distributor back in. If you have a way to tell if you're on the compression stroke (like holding your thumb on the spark plug hole while someone turns the crank briskly with a wrench) that will reduce guess-work.
